Old Siam Trading Company, Ltd., was established in April 2002 and registered under the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand with registered capital of Thai Baht 8,000,000.- (US$ 200,000.-). It is a 100 % American owned company, allowed under the Treaty of Amity between Thailand and the United States of America. The Company’s office and gallery is located on Bangkok's famous Sukhumvit Road which is one of the busiest commercial centers in Asia.

The president and owner of Old Siam Trading Company is John E. Conrad who is a long time resident of Thailand and has been engaged in both international commerce and US government service in Asia since 1968 and has worked and lived in Bangkok since 1986. He has lived and worked for many years in Japan, Korea and Vietnam, as well as in Thailand. During the past 35 years he has built up a very large collection of antiquarian books, prints and map mostly focusing on Asian subjects. He has made the transition from collector to seller now and many of the items that Old Siam Trading Company sells are from his personal collection.

The Company is engaged in buying and selling antiquarian prints, maps, books and other collectible items that largely have to do with travel and exploration, history, customs, culture, sports, and other subjects of interest in Asia and other parts of the world, as well. One of the core goals of the Company is to endeavor to create a greater awareness of the results of foreign travel and exploration in this region over the past centuries by making rare prints, books and cartography more available and accessible to the market. Our gallery is open every day (except Sunday), or by appointment.

A short description of our items are featured under the ‘Products’ link. They are organized in our store by type and category, and feature nearly all original works at this time. We will be adding new additions to our sales portfolio as we acquire new material that we expect will be of interest to our current and future customers.

Many of the items we sell are from the old illustrated newspapers from the 1840’s onwards like the Illustrated London News, Harpers Weekly, Frank Leslie’s Drawing Room Companion, Le Petit Journal, Le Petit Parisien, Le Tour Du Monde, L’Illustre and others.

Often we will have the black and white newspapers enhanced by having them colored by our London based colorist who has decades of experience at this art. We always tell our customers whether or not the coloring is originally done or after colored. In the case of the Le Petit Journal and the Le Petit Parisien, these editions were nearly all colored at the time of their original publication.

We treat our customers' privacy with the utmost care and do not provide our customer's information to any third party for any reason unless such permission is specifically granted or requested by the customer.

We are looking forward to serving you!
